As Bell, Book and Candle developed I became aware that the majority of the work could be limited editions. It is possible to make multiples of all the work made from mirror, glass, camouflage and vinyl cloth, mousetraps, jigsaws and opticians’ charts.
Visual literacy grows in proportion to its use, as does verbal literacy. Yet the practical manner of ‘reading’ visual images is considerably different from the reading of the written word.
To see a progression of letters as a pictorial image and not as a word or sentence requires a different form of perception. They become a visual debate that is thwarted by the original meaning of the letters.
Mirrors are magic.
